Sunshine Coast hotels

Mapleton is one of the charming Sunshine Coast Hinterland towns that is well worth a day trip or a romantic weekend away to visit. One of the best things about Mapleton is the variety of lush green forest and nature reserves that can be visited nearby. One of the favourite local natural sites is the Mapleton Falls National Park where the waterfall cascades 120 metres.

While walking along the marked path to the waterfall lookout you will often be serenaded by a chorus of whip birds and other native bird life. The Delicia Road Conservation Park is another wonderful place to visit while in Mapleton with its easy walking path through stunning forest and palm groves acting as home to plentiful local wildlife. If you are prone to a little adrenaline seeking, then why not practice a little abseiling at Point Glorious located in the Mapleton State Forest area.

If you have worked up a thirst exploring the area, then one of Mapleton’s best watering holes is the Mapleton Tavern, which boasts gorgeous views out over the hinterland all the way to the ocean. Mapleton is well known for its annual Yarn Festival during which poets and story tellers gather to battle it out for prizes and yarn spinning glory.

All around Mapleton there are eco lodges, cabins and B&Bs where you can stay for a romantic getaway. In the summer months Mapleton is an ideal place to escape the heat of the coast since it is a couple of degrees cooler and in winter it is a cosy place to sit by the fire with a loved one and snuggle up over some local wine or organically produced fruit and cheese platters.
