Dicky Beach

Sunshine Coast hotels

Dicky Beach is in Caloundra, it is the suburb and the beach as well. This area is a very popular tourist place, as the Caravan park is situated right on the beachfront.

Dicky Beach

The area was named after the iron steamboat, the SS Dicky, which ran aground during heavy seas in 1893. It was re-floated, but again, heavy seas turned the ship about and back onto the sand where it remains to this day. Dicky Beach remains the only recreational beach in the world to be named after a shipwreck.

Dicky Beach has a patrolled beach and you can visit the Dicky Beach Surf Club. Dicky Beach has a small shopping centre where you can buy items that you may need, it also has a couple of restaurants. You can also try your hand at fishing while you are there. It is just a short walk to Moffat beach.
